The U.S. opposes Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen, but supports Iranian-backed militias in Iraq. ISIS apparently wants to kill everybody, including fellow Muslims, who are not part of ISIS.

Jim Fletcher, director of Prophecy Matters and host of the weekly radio program Israel Watch on the Rapture Ready Radio Network, joins us to discuss the tangled web of Middle Eastern geopolitics, including the nuclear deal with Iran, and how Israel figures into the whole thing.

EVEN SAUDIS WANT NETANYAHU TO ADDRESS CONGRESS

Israel Today Staff — As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepared on Tuesday to address the US Congress regarding the Iran threat, in direct defiance of the Obama White House, at least one nation outside of Israel was supportive of the move: Saudi Arabia.

Writing in the Saudi daily newspaper Al-Jazirah on Monday, columnist Dr. Ahmad Al-Faraj called Netanyahu’s appearance before Congress under such circumstances “unprecedented in US political history.”

Obama Administration officials and Netanyahu’s political rivals in Israel insisted the speech is a mistake and would only serve to damage US-Israel relations. But Dr. Al-Faraj said the Israeli leader was providing a vital service not only to the Jewish state, but the entire Middle East.

“I am very glad of Netanyahu’s firm stance and [his decision] to speak against the nuclear agreement at the American Congress, despite the Obama administration’s anger and fury,” wrote the Saudi. “I believe that Netanyahu’s conduct will serve our interests, the people of the Gulf, much more than the foolish behavior of one of the worst American presidents.”

Al-Faraj hinted Obama’s naive and dangerous behavior in the Middle East had necessitated someone like Netanyahu taking a bold stand.

“…Obama is the godfather of the prefabricated revolutions in the Arab world, and…he is the ally of political Islam, [which is] the caring mother of [all] the terrorist organizations,” he wrote, suggesting that any deal struck by this particular American president could simply not be trusted.

REPORT: SAUDIS READY TO HELP ISRAEL ATTACK IRAN

Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs

“We know all we need to know, and we have an excellent picture of the negotiations. Maybe [Kerry] doesn’t know everything we know.”

Israel Today Staff — European officials say that Saudi Arabia is just as concerned as Israel over the details of the nuclear agreement the Obama Administration is currently negotiating with Iran, and is even prepared to facilitate an Israeli airstrike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, should it come to that.

“The Saudis have declared their readiness for the Israeli Air Force to overfly Saudi air space en route to attack Iran if an attack is necessary,” an unnamed senior European diplomat was cited as saying by Israel’s Channel 2 News.

The source added that Saudi Arabia is “completely coordinated with Israel on all matters related to Iran.”

The one condition Riyadh reportedly had for providing this kind of assistance is some kind of tangible progress in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

The report, if credible, is a major blow to the Obama Administration, which insists that Israel’s urgent criticism of its proposed deal with Iran is unwarranted.

“Anybody running around right now jumping in to say, ‘Well we don’t like the deal,’ or this or that, doesn’t know what the deal is,” US Secretary of State John Kerry told a congressional hearing on Tuesday.

Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs, Yuval Steinitz, responded by suggesting that perhaps it’s Kerry that lacks the full picture.

“We know all we need to know, and we have an excellent picture of the negotiations,” Steinitz told Israeli media. “Maybe [Kerry] doesn’t know everything we know.”

Sharona Schwartz, TheBlaze — A Saudi preacher said that Muslims were already in America before Christopher Columbus ever sailed there.

Speaking at the Sa’eed bin Jubair Mosque in Jedda, Saudi Arabia, Imam Issa Assiri said of the discovery of America: “The truth is that Columbus knew about the ‘new world’ even before he set sail. He also knew that there were Muslims there.”

The preacher contended that Columbus’ mission to America was all part of a war against Islam.

“He received a personal commission to sail to America from a Crusader queen [Isabella] who hated Islam and the Muslims,” Assiri said, according to a translation by the Middle East Media Research Institute. “That was before this hateful crusader turned to the American continent, in order to fight the Muslims there. The Muslims were there before Columbus and all the others.”

In one of his sermons, the imam also suggested that Christians and Jews understand only violence.

“When they faced death [by violence] … this is the language these Jewish and Christian infidels understand. This is the only language they understand. [After the attacks in France] they changed their policy,” Assiri said.

The imam said those who curse or mock the Prophet Muhammad, even if only in jest, “must be killed, even if he repents.”

The videos of Assiri’s speeches were posted online earlier this month and were translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in November made the claim that Muslims discovered America in the 12th century, nearly three centuries before Christopher Columbus set foot there.

NTEB News Desk, August 30, 2014 — History is now repeating itself, and America and the Western world find themselves in an uncomfortable but familiar place. ISIS and the Islamic State war machine has ramped up to the point where it has begun to irrevocably change the balance of power in nations like Iraq and Syria. America and the West in 2014 have become Germany in 1932. Horrific, momentous change is knocking at the door, and the leadership and resolve needed to answer that call is no where to be seen.

If American and the Allied nations would act decisively now, the forward movement of ISIS could be stopped dead in it’s tracks. But no one is acting in any meaningful full outside of soundbites and press conferences. ISIS is advancing because the powers that be are have allowed for them to advance. Eventually, the Islamic State will garner enough money, enough weapons and enough support from nations like Iran that something cataclysmic will take place. A collective apathy has settled down on the world’s leaders, rendering them powerless. Hitler could have easily been stopped, but he wasn’t. By the time America and the West woke up, it was already too late and 55,000,000 people died because one man was allowed to proceed unchecked. One man.

WWIII is at the door, America, and the clock is ticking.

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has warned that the West will be the next target of the jihadists sweeping through Syria and Iraq, unless there is “rapid” action. “If we ignore them, I am sure they will reach Europe in a month and America in another month,” he said in remarks quoted on Saturday by Asharq al-Awsat daily and Saudi-backed Al-Arabiya television station.

The Islamic State (IS) jihadist group has prompted widespread concern as it advances in both Syria and Iraq, killing hundreds of people, including in gruesome beheadings and mass executions. Lack of action would be “unacceptable” in the face of the phenomenon, King Abdullah said.

“You see how they (jihadists) carry out beheadings and make children show the severed heads in the street,” he said, condemning the “cruelty” of such acts. “It is no secret to you, what they have done and what they have yet to do. I ask you to transmit this message to your leaders: ‘Fight terrorism with force, reason and necessary speed’.”

President Barack Obama has yet to decide whether the United States should launch raids against positions held by the Islamic State jihadist group in Syria to follow US air strikes on IS activities in Iraq.

SAUDIS UP SENTENCE OF LIBERAL EDITOR TO 10 YEARS JAIL, 1,000 LASHES

Challenging Islamic Extremism - Promoting Dialogue

Raif Badawi’s ‘crime was moderating an internet forum that encouraged participants to voice their opinion about religion in the Kingdom.

The editor of an internet forum dedicated to discussing the role of religion in Saudi Arabia has been sentenced by a Saudi court to 10 years in prison, 1,000 lashes and a fine of one million riyals ($266,600).

As Clarion Project reported, Raif Badawi was originally sentenced to seven years in prison and 600 lashes for insulting Islam and violating the Kingdom’s anti-cybercrime law. However, last July, an appeals court threw out the verdict and ordered a new trial.

Lawyers for the prosecution had asked for a more severe penalty.

In his original trial, Badawi, the online editor of the “Free Saudi Liberals” forum was also found guilty of “parental disobedience” (a crime in Saudi Arabia) in connection to numerous arguments he had had with his father.

Badawi had left the country in 2008 after the initial charges of insulting Islam were filed against him. After being told that the charges were dropped, he returned, only to be barred from leaving the country again. His business assets were also frozen at the time.

Charges of apostasy – a crime in the Kingdom that carries the death penalty – that were pending against Badawi were dropped last July after Badawi testified in court that he is a Muslim.

Badawi founded the online platform in 2008 “to encourage debate on religious and political matters in Saudi Arabia,” according to Human Rights Watch. The group also said that the judge affirmed that “liberalism is akin to unbelief.”

At his hearing last year, the judge prevented Badawi’s lawyer from representing him.

After his arrest, Badawi’s wife and children relocated out of the Kingdom last year to avoid backlash against the family.

Saudi Arabia has a history of detaining and convicting liberal activists ranging from human rights lawyers to demonstrators. » Full Article
